The book that defined the liberal arts chemistry course, Chemistry for Changing Times remains the most visually appealing and readable introduction on the subject. I bought this book as a text for class I am taking. This book is interesting as it is current and has real world application references. The section and chapter reviews are helpful in reinforcing the readers retention of the material and comprehension. I like the Green Chemistry sections at the end of each chapter. I feel it brings the lesson around full circle.

The manual provides complete, step-by-step, worked-out solutions for all problems and exercises in the main text, allowing students to review and further develop their approach to them.

Step by step details and explanations allowing the reader/student to fully understand each step in a problem. I currently have 100% in the class third way through the semester and this is because I am able to look in the manual to ensure that I am doing the homework problems correctly and I am efficiently understanding the material.

If it were not for this manual, I probably would have had to go to my instructor after every lesson for help. This manual is a life saver and it breaks down the solution to every problem step by step!!! It really increased my understanding of the material and how to work related problems. I would highly recommend this manual..you won't regret it!

Study Guide and Solutions Manual for Organic Chemistry 6th Edition, Paula Y. Bruice



The only way to survive this course is a good instructor and practice, practice, practice. But it has to be "perfect practice". While this solutions manual does give additional guidance on the in-chapter problems, that is NOT the real reason to buy it. I worked through most of the back of the chapter problems - and, as is the case with struggling OChem student - often came up with "solutions" that were totally wrong! If I hadn't had this book, I would have not known where I went wrong or how to proceed.

If you are prepared to WORK HARD on learning organic chemistry, I can't recommend this solutions manual more highly. While your mileage may vary, I am NOT a chemistry brain, but still managed to earn an A for both semesters of OChem and scored 89th percentile on the American Chemical Society OChem Exam.

The answers to exercises from the accompanying textbook are accurate and very helpful for checking whether you're correct or not. However, if you don't get the correct answer, this "study guide" does little to explain how the solution is obtained. The practice tests in the study guide are rather easy compared to the material covered in the book and in most classes, but they were still useful in reviewing for exams. Overall, this manual was very helpful throughout my organic chemistry course provided I could figure out how to get to the answers on my own after seeing them.

I just came here to say that this is the greatest solutions manual I've ever encountered. In a world where solutions manuals get sold that don't always even include an answer to every question, this thing is relatively spectacular. It answers all the questions in chapter and post chapter, has study guide sections between chapters, and often elaborates on solutions to tell you exactly why an answer is the way it is, especially if it's strange or surprising. This is invaluable for things like O-Chem.

Since the first edition, much data has been developed and refined contributing to a substantially deeper knowledge of reservoir fluids, their analysis, properties, the chemical nature of petroleum, and gas- liquid equilibria. This new edition is abundantly justified.

I am using the second edition to help with my understanding of viscosity, permeability, compressibility, PV diagrams and other calculations.

The book is titled "An introduction". However, the detail in the book is at an intermediate level. You need to have at least some basic scientific and mathematical knowledge to make the best of this book. As an example, it is clearly a level above Dr Hyne's Nontechnical Guide to Petroleum Geology.

The book does not go into great background detail and is more focused on calculations and examples of how they are derived and applied. If this is what you want this book for (as it was for me), it does a great job.

It has an exemplary index that is very useful in finding exactly what you are looking for.

With Amazon's buyback, the book w/ the access is cheaper to purchase, use, and resell than any other of the possibilities out there including using the 6th addition at the time of my purchase. Good book that is easy to read, lots of illustrations, and lots of practice problems with answers in the back. Now if only my professor was as good as the book.
